Sheppey Channel Champions

6 Swimmers – 1 Cross Channel Swim

In August 2026, Heidi, Rachel, Sue, Emily, Teresa, and Laura will swim the English Channel in a relay from Dover to Calais to raise money for SwimTayka.

Drowning is a silent epidemic, claiming an estimated 236,000 lives every year—many of them children. It is the third leading cause of unintentional injury-related death worldwide. These are wasted lives and preventable deaths.

SwimTayka provides free swimming lessons and drowning prevention education to underprivileged children living along the Earth’s open waters: rivers, lakes, and oceans.

SwimTayka’s objective is the advancement of health and the saving of lives through the provision of swimming lessons for children, as well as teaching and training in all aspects of water safety.
